When I read Everything, Everything, I loved it. I found that I had a love-hate relationship with the author Nicola Yoon. Because Maddy went through some unbelievable things in her 18 years of living in the book. Overall this novel is like a real-life fairy tale, that actually comes true! Everyone can somehow relate to this book, at least I know I can. You find true love or so you think. They move away and you can’t do anything about it. They find someone new and forget all about you. But, eventually, they can’t stop thinking about you. You meet up, and all of the sudden you are hanging out all the time. The day Olly moved next door to the Whittier’s, Madeline felt something that she has never felt before. It was a sense of happiness. A sense of hope. She would hope that the SCID life she lives would not last so long. She would hope that Olly was her true love. Even though she has not met Olly or his family in person, she still hoped. Madeline Whittier was always this happy go lucky type of girl. When she first saw Olly, she had never felt the feeling that she felt then, with Olly. Oliver Bright brought the hope, the happiness, and the maybes. He brought Maddy hope that she would not be in this situation for much longer. He made her much happier, even if she was having a bad day. Every time they would make eye contact, both of them would be smiling ear to ear. When Madeline met Oliver, she thought maybe this will not be so bad, maybe just maybe we can make it work. What I learned when reading this book was to live in the moment, because you never know when something life-changing will happen. So live in the moment, not in the future, not in the past, but in the present. Some people say that the past is a gift you already opened, the future is a gift you have not yet received and the present is a gift you are opening up now. Do not waste your time looking at all of the presents you have already opened or the ones that you have not yet received, but focus on the present! Madeline made every second of her life unforgettable. That is what everyone needs to do. By far one the best books I have ever read, highly recommended!
